How to disable Windows Search Index to Speed Up your PC
Microsoft Windows Search Index is a background service that keeps track of the files on your computer and stores meta information about the files including file name, date modified and some other meta data. The index is used to make searching for files much faster. Instead of digging through your entire hard disk, Windows scans the cached index, and displays results in a small fraction of time that a search without the index would take.
However, the search index service may cause hard disk to run a lot when the files on your system are changed a lot, thus slows down your system. Further more, the search result is not accurate if there are so many changes that the search index sevice can't catch up with updating itself. If you disable the search indexing service, you will force Windows use full non-index search of the drive. The searches will take a bit longer but it will cut down on the hard drive running as much and will give accurate search results.
