How to disable or enable Windows Me System Restore
System Restore is a feature of Windows Me, it lets you restore your computer to an earlier state.Though this is a useful backup feature, it can take up hard drive space by saving many configuration files and can even be utilized by some virus programs to prevent them from be removed by anti-virus tools. So sometime we need to turn off this feature temporarily.
Disable System Restore
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
- Double click the System icon to open the System Properties dialog.
- Select the Performance tab and click File System button, and the File System Properties dialog opens.
- Select the Troubleshooting tab.
- In this window, check Disable System Restore.
- Click OK.
Enable System Restore
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
- Double click the System icon to open the System Properties dialog.
- Select the Performance tab and click File System button, and the File System Properties dialog opens.
- Select the Troubleshooting tab.
- In this window, uncheck Disable System Restore.
- Click OK.
