TopText may be installed by many file-sharing programs including KaZaA, iMesh and optionally,many other free applications, eg. GoZilla. TopText alters all pages viewed in IE, adding extra links to words and phrases targeted by advertisers. These links are unauthorised by the operators of the sites being viewed.

How to Remove TopText?

Follow these steps to remove TopText from your machine,

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs and select the entry 'TopText' to remove it.
2. The uninstall option leaves the downloader/installer intact, which is the in the System directory named 'stub.exe'. After using 'Add/Remove Programs', , you need to remove this file manually. To do this, open a Dos command prompt ( from Start->Programs->Accessories), and enter the following commands:
   
   "%WinDir%\SYSTEM\stub.exe -UnregServer"
   
   For Windows NT/2000/XP, the command is simply:
   stub.exe -UnregServer
3. Restart the computer.
4. Delete the file 'stub.exe' from the System directory.
