About ActualNames
ActualNames, also known as AdvSearch and SearchPike, is a address bar search hijacker for Internet Explorer, Netscape and AOL. ActualNames can silently download and execute arbitrary unsigned code from its controlling server actualnames.com, as a self-updating feature. It is likely to slow performance of Internet Explorer. ActualNames/BrowseProxy is also a severe security hole as it allows any web site to execute arbitrary programs.

How to Remove ActualNames?
To automactically remove it, go to the Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs, choose 'AdvSearch' and click 'Remove'.
Follow these steps to manually remove ActualNames/SearchPike from your machine:
- Start the registry editor. (Click Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
- Locate the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
- In the right pane, delete the entry 'BrowseProxy', if it exists.
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {92C7D65C-52F3-4545-8A35-213D730DB1ED}, if it exists.
- Close the registry editor.
- Restart your computer.
- Delete the following directory and its contents:
"%ProgramsDir%\AdvSearch\"
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable. By default, this is C:\Program Files.
