Winpup
is an adware that generates lots of popup ad windows. It copies itself as
Winpup.exe,
Winpup32.exe or random named files to Windows system folder. It may download file from internet and update itself silently.
How to Remove
Winpup
?
Follow these instructions to remove this spyware from your computer:
- Restart your computer to safe mode. (Press F8 when Windows start up.)
- Open Registry Editor (Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' and click Ok).
- Navigate to the key: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run' .
- In the right pane, find the entries with a random name, for example:
ssoft32t
ssecd
erffiltp
nape20s
qgentrm
pnmodemd
inspoolw
owfaxw
The values for these entries are all like %System%\%Random%.exe, where %System% is a variable,
By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\Winnt\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
Delete these entries.
