is a spyware implemented as
an IE Browser Helper Object (BHO). It collects personal information from you, tracks the urls of every web site you visited, alters your
Internet security settings, and displays advertisements to you.
The program will also automatically update itself from time to time once installed. It is likely to slow the performance of Internet Explorer.
How to Remove
Masterbar
?
The program can be automatically removed using its Add/Remove options. To remove it, click Start > Settings > Control Panel, double click Add/Remove Programs, scroll down the list till you find the entry
masterbarHallmedia.net, click Remove to uninstall it.
In order to manually remove Masterbar from your computer, please follow these removal instructions:
- Close all open Internet Explorer windows.
- Open a Dos command prompt (from Start > Programs > Accessory ).
- Enter the following command:
cd %System%
regsvr32 /u masterbar.dll
Note: %System% is
a variable, you should replace it using the system directory in your computer, by default it is c:\windows\system for Windows 98, c:\winnt\system32 for Windows 2000 or c:\windows\system32 for Windows XP.
- Reboot the computer.
- Delete the masterbar.dll from %System% directory.
