HelpExpress \ HXDL
HelpExpress is part of an automated helpdesk software called Aveo Attune.
It provides end-users with targeted, "plain English" messages .
These messages
are said to
provide the user
with information about products, services, or common computer problems.
HelpExpress runs quietly in the background and automatically updates its messages when users connect to the Internet.
It is reported that it runs without permission, and continues to run after its carrier has been uninstalled. The ratings groups TRUST-e cited Aveo in violation of the privacy agreement, and ordered its privacy seal off its websites.
How to Remove
HelpExpress \ HXDL
?
Follow these removal instructions to remove it from your computer:
- Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Double click "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows® Control Panel.
- Look for the entry "Attune", and click Remove to uninstall it.
- Locate the entry "HelpExpress" , and click Remove to remove it as well.
- Click Start > Run, type 'MSCONFIG' and press Ok.
- Click on the Startup tab, and uncheck AttuneClientEngine to prevent HXDL.EXE from being re-downloaded.
- Open registry editor(Click Start > Run, type regedit), remove the following keys (if exist):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\alset
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\hx
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\hxdl
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\alset
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\aveo
- Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
In the right pane, delete the entries with ' emsw.exe', 'helpexp.exe','hxdl.exe', and 'hxiul.exe'
Repeat same steps with the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
- Reboot the computer.
- Remove the following directories (if present):
c:\program\alset
%Program Files%/alset network'
%Program Files%/aveo
Remove this spyware using PestPatrol
Remove other programs:
