Remove DotCom Toolbar

About DotCom Toolbar

DotCom Toolbar is an IE toolbar implemented as IE BHO ( Browser Helper Object ). This program redirects URL to its controlling server and then back to the correct location. The Web site can log a user's IP address and visited URLs.


How to Remove DotCom Toolbar ? 

Follow these steps to remove it from your computer:

  1. Click Start > Run, type the following command:
    regsvr32 \u c:\windows\system32\data.dll

    You need to replace the c:\windows with Windows directory in your computer if it is not the same.
  2. Open registry editor (Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' ).
    Locate the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    In the right pane, find the entry redirect, note the value of this sub key ( commonly it is c:\windows\system32\redirect?.exe), then delete this entry .
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Delete the file you noted in step 2.
  5. Delete the file data.dll from System folder in your computer.
