About Adware XLocator

XLocator is an adware implemented as Internet EXplorer Browser Helper Object. The adware adds a toolbar to your IE and monitors your browsing history to deliver advertisements on your screen. The adware is also known as Winlocator. It is usually installed when visiting adult sites.

How to Remove XLocator ?

Remove this spyware using Spyware Doctor.

Follow these removal steps to remove this spyware from your computer:

1. Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' to open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to and delete the following registry keys:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {8F0D6EED-BC11-4E7F-8276-9748947E4A50}\
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Toolbar \ {8F0D6EED-BC11-4E7F-8276-9748947E4A50}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {89AEAB46-8E8A-4045-9003-5614BFBFE90B}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Shell Extensions \ Approved \ {8F0D6EED-BC11-4E7F-8276-9748947E4A50}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer\Browser Helper Objects \ {89AEAB46-8E8A-4045-9003-5614BFBFE90B}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Shell Extensions \ Approved \ {89AEAB46-8E8A-4045-9003-5614BFBFE90B}
   
3. Reboot the computer.
   
4. Go to the Windows directory (C:\Windows or C:\Winnt ) and delete the file 'updatewinlocator.exe'.
   
5. Go to the System directory (C:\Windows\system32 (on Windows XP), C:\Winnt\System32 (on Windows 2000) or C:\Windows\System (on Windows 98/Me)), find and delete the following files:
   
   'winlocator.dll'
   'winlocatorhelper.dll '
