About Adware SmartSearch

SmartSearch is browser hijacker program. The spyware redirects your browser search requests to tis controlling server SmartSearch.ws and generate search result pages that are mostly affiliate links. SamertSearch hijacker seems to be a variant of hijacker CoolWebSearch.

How to Remove SmartSearch ?

Remove this spyware using Spyware Doctor.

Follow these removal steps to manually remove this adware from your computer:

1. Reboot the computer to safe mode (click F8 when Windows start).
   
2. Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' to open the Registry Editor.
   
3. Navigate to the following registry key:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
   
   In the right pane, delete the entry named "SystemEmergency", if exists. Note down the file that it points to.
   
4. Navigate to the following registry key:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunServices
   
   In the right pane, delete the entry named "SystemEmergency", if exists. Note down the file that it points to.
   
5. Navigate to the following registry key:
   
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunServices
   
   In the right pane, delete the entry named "SystemEmergency", if exists. Note down the file that it points to.
   
6. Exit Registry Editor.
   
7. Reboot the computer.
8. Open Windows Explorer, search for and delete the files mentioned above in the steps 3,4 5.
