About Adware Slotch

Slotch is a browser hijacker program. It resets your Internet Explorer homepage to Slotch.com, adds toolbar to your computer, and redirects browser search request and generates popups. Slotch is a variant of the spyware ISTbar.

How to Remove Slotch ?

Remove this spyware using Spyware Doctor.

Follow these removal steps to remove this adware from your computer:

1. Reboot your computer to Safe mode ( press F8 when Windows start ).
   
2. Click Start > Run, type 'regedit', and click Ok to open the Registry eidtor.
   
3. Navigate to the following key:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
   
   In the right pane find and delete the entry with the value 'AutoUpdater' that points to the file "aupdate.exe".
   
4. Navigate to the following key:
   
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
   
   In the right pane find and delete the entry ‘MS Updates' ( pointing to "mscache.exe") and ‘IST Service' (pointing to 'istsvc.exe').
   
5. Navigate to and delete the following registry keys:
   
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{69550BE2-9A78-11D2-BA91-00600827878D}
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars\{69550BE2-9A78-11D2-BA91-00600827878D}
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\{69550BE2-9A78-11D2-BA91-00600827878D}
   
6. Exit Registry Editor.
   
7. Delete the following file from the System directory (by default, the System directory is is C:\Windows\system in Windows 98 or C:\Winnt\System32 in Windows 2000 or C:\Windows\System32 in Windows XP):
   
   'aupdate.exe' , ‘aupdate.conf', ‘aupdate.trk' , 'aupdate_uninstall.exe'
   
8. Reboot the computer.
