About Adware Checkin

Checkin is not only an adware, but also a trojan downloader that downloads and activates executable files on users' computers. The adware also adds entries on the HOSTS file to redirect some domains to its controlling server.

How to Remove Checkin ?

Follow these removal steps to remove CheckIn from your computer:

1. Open Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL), from the processes list, select and terminate the following processes:
   ttps.exe
   owmngr.exe
   
2. Click Start > Run, enter 'regedit' to open Registry Editor.
   
3. Navigate to the following registry key:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
   
   In the right pane, delete the entries with the value owmngr or sysreg
   
4. Navigate to the following registry key:
   
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\runonce
   
   In the right pane, delete the entries with the value owmngr or sysreg
   
5. Reboot the computer.
   
6. Delete file ttps.exe and owmngr.exe from system directory (By default, this is C:\winnt\system32 in Windows 2000/NT or C:\windows\system in Windows 98 , or C:\windows\system32 in Windows XP).
