About Adware AtHoc

AtHoc is an adware implemented as IE toolbar. The program will contact to its controlling server and promote user directly on the toolbar whenever new contents ( advertisements ) are available.

How to Remove AtHoc ?

To manually remove this adware, please follow these instructions:

1. Open Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL) , from the process list, find and terminate the following applications:
   
   athoc.exe
   athocdeskbar.exe
   
2. Unregister the dll files. To do this, open a Dos command prompt window(from Start > Programs > Accessory), enter the following commands:
   
   For Windows 2000/XP/NT,
   
   cd %WinDir%/System32
   regsvr32 /u athoctbr.dll
   regsvr32 /ugshtmlcl.dll
   
   Or for Windows 98/Me,
   
   cd %WinDir%/System
   regsvr32 /u athoctbr.dll
   regsvr32 /u gshtmlcl.dll
   
   
3. Open the Regsitry Editor(Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' and click OK) .
4. Navigate to and delete the following keys:
   
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{001f2470-5df5-11d3-b991-00a0c9bb0874}
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{001f2470-5df5-11d3-b991-00a0c9bb0874}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\clsid\{001f2470-5df5-11d3-b991-00a0c9bb0874}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\clsid\{001f2470-5df5-11d3-b991-00a0c9bb0874}
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{001f2470-5df5-11d3-b991-00a0c9bb0874}
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Reboot the computer.
7. Open Windows Explorer, find and delete the following files:
   athoctbr.dll, athoc.exe, athocdeskbar.exe, gshtmlcl.dll
